An electric stair climber, a type of lifting device that runs on the side of a staircase, usually consisting of three parts: a track, a drive and a seat, whose main purpose is to help people with mobility problems to get up and down the stairs in their homes. As a barrier-free device, stair lift chairs are also found in many public spaces, such as hospitals.
In terms of safety, it is actually safer than other stair aids, such as automatic manual stairs, private lifts and third party operated stair machines. The stair lift is controlled by the rider and can be stopped at any time, unlike escalators which are constantly running and can cause accidents.
